In Rising Roots' first book club, students will learn reading comprehension strategies, communication skills, and critical thinking concepts as we explore the post-apocalyptic world of Ember. Each week we'll come together for open discussion of the reading segment, followed by creative projects and guided prompts to get everyone invested in books like never before!
Supply cost: $15
Supplies needed: The City of Ember book(s), empty 3 ring binder, pencil, colored pencils
Prerequisites: 4th grade reading level
Note: We will do some reading during class but will be focusing on discussion and projects with our time together. Students should expect to read reasonable amounts of the book at home as assigned. I will use feedback from the class to adjust pacing as we go and determine how far into the series we read and discuss.
