Flora Schubert (she/her)
I am the mother of two children, ages 15 and 12. Throughout our years as homeschoolers, we have learned that our favorite kind of learning is exploring our passions and curiosities. My children have encouraged me to think in ways that I never thought of before. Homeschooling has encouraged me to continue being a learner throughout life and my hope is that the children that I work with take this gift with them as well. - I attended Kutztown University to earn degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. - I then taught in a local public school for 6 years until my oldest child was born.
In addition to homeschooling and parenting, I work as The Community Manager for Lavender's Blue Homeschool. I also offer homeschool evaluations for students in grades K-12. Both of these jobs offer me the chance to support and encourage others on the path of parenting and homeschooling.
I am passionate about seasonal, local eating. We are very involved with fostering animals through our local shelter. Over the past year, I have taken a volunteer leadership role with our local theater company and have been the producer for two youth productions with two more coming up. This has been a very exciting learning experience for me and a chance to volunteer in a place that my children love to spend their time. I strive to be a helpful person within the community and dive deep into matters and organizations that we are involved with.
I love time spent outside, food preservation, snail mail, gardening, travel, thrift stores, and family time. I am thrilled to be a part of the teaching team at Rising Roots.
As a teacher, it is my hope to inspire the love of learning within children through time spent with creative, hands-on experiences.
