FULL MOON FIESTA!!!

to celebrate the moon's fullness with heavenly food, celestial beats, and an
otherworldly dancefloor....


Featuring:

*Dinner of "Jamakin' me Mexican" meal, catered by "Jill"
*Hip hop open mike
*Presentation on past and future projects of Rising Roots
*DJs spinning dancehall and drum'n bass
*and so much more....

Where: Ida Noyes Hall, 2nd Floor
When: This Saturday, November 8th
How: Dinner and hip hop open mic from 7-10pm is $10 (includes afterparty)
Party without dinner from 10pm-midnight is $5

The kids who brought computers to Honduras, indigenous organizers to Chicago,
and a delectable brunch to Hyde Parkers, is about to take their vision of
technological literacy as a tool of individual and social empowerment to
Kingston, Jamaica, and would like for YOU to take part in their mission. All
proceeds of the Full Moon Fiesta will go towards funding Rising Roots projects.

From Honduras to Chicago: Fighting for Another World

Who: Berta Cáceres, Indigenous Honduran Organizer

When:October 31-November 5th, 2003

Berta Cáceres is coordinator of the indigenous community alliance, Civil Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH). Days after leading a mass mobilization against privatization in Honduras, Berta will speak about the struggle by indigenous peoples, workers, campesinos, and activists around the world to put control over development back in the hands of the communities it affects, fighting back against plans such as the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) and Plan Puebla-Panamá.
